Upon completion of the project, which was tendered by Mersin International Port Management Inc. (MIP) and for which the contract was signed on 6 December 2023, the port’s annual capacity will increase by 1 million TEU through an investment exceeding USD 450 million, representing a growth of 30%. In addition, the existing quay will be extended 380 metres seaward and additional land reclamation works will be carried out.

The expansion will not only increase the port’s scale but also its economic impact. The project is expected to create direct employment for 5,000 people and indirect employment opportunities for 30,000 people.
