Doğuş İnşaat has taken on another major investment aimed at one of Türkiye's most critical logistics gateways. Having successfully completed landmark marine construction projects including the Star Aegean Refinery, Galataport, Petkim Container Terminal, and İskenderun Port, the company will now carry out the expansion of Mersin International Port, the backbone of Türkiye's foreign trade.

The project, tendered by Mersin Uluslararası Liman İşletmeciliği A.Ş., encompasses the expansion of the existing port area to approximately four times its current size along with a comprehensive infrastructure overhaul. On the eastern quay, the existing wharf will be extended by 368 meters using 310 steel piles. On the western front, a new 936-meter quay will be constructed using a five-layer block wall system to berth RoRo vessels and tugboats. The area connecting the eastern and western quays will be arranged as a container storage yard where RMG cranes will operate continuously. On the southern quay, armourstone and caisson wall construction will be carried out, while the existing quay structure will also be upgraded within the project scope.

Upon completion, a port facility of approximately 270,000 m² equipped with STS and RMG crane systems will be fully operational. The construction will involve 80,000 meters of bored piling, 129,000 m³ of C32/40 concrete and 82,000 m³ of C40/50 concrete, and 2,520,000 m³ of marine fill, with a total quay length reaching 900 meters.

With a hinterland serving approximately fifty percent of Türkiye and a strategic position in the Eastern Mediterranean, Mersin Port stands as a vital logistics hub. Once this investment is complete, the port's annual container handling capacity will rise from 2.6 million TEU to 3.6 million TEU.
